Vanessa M. Lagera graduated with a Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University and a Bachelors in Physical therapy from the University of the Philippines. She started working in 1996 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and moved to Northern Virginia in 2001. While she has mostly worked in outpatient and orthopedic outpatient clinics, Vanessa has also worked with children in the school system and with seniors residing in Skilled Nursing Facilities. She enjoys working with her patients and helping them get better. Vanessa loves being around her family, traveling and volunteering with local organizations
Michael has over 12 years of experience in various settings in health care - including acute care hospitals, long-term acute care settings, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living settings and outpatients settings. He has experience working with patients with a variety of medical conditions and diseases, including CVA and neurological disorders, cardiovascular disorders/diseases, neuro-muscular conditions/diseases, cognitive disorders as well as orthopedic conditions. He has worked with various populations from 3 to 103 Yrs of age. Michael grew up in a military family that moved frequently around the world. In his working professional life, Michael has also lived all over the country. In his free time Michael enjoys traveling, cooking and exercising.
“Maia” earned her Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Loyola University Maryland and relocated to northern Virginia in 2015. Maia enjoys serving pediatric and adult populations with a variety of needs and diagnoses including traumatic brain injury (TBI) and other neurological disorders, dysarthria and oral-motor difficulties, fluency, hearing impaired, autism spectrum disorders (ASD), developmental language delays and parent coaching, articulation and phonological disorders, and pragmatic and receptive-expressive language difficulties. Maia has worked with adults with neurological etiologies in out-patient settings and senior centers and with infants and children in various settings including pediatric hospital, public and private schools, drama/performance approach, and out-patient clinics providing feeding protocols, social skills, and speech-language therapy. Maia is an active, certified member of the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and is a certified provider in Interactive Metronome (IM) and Beckman Oral Motor Protocol, and is trained in PECS and PROMPT Level 1. In her free time, Maia, enjoys spending time with her family and going to movies, concerts, and traveling.
Dr. Jennifer Connolly is a licensed behavior analyst, a BCBA-D, and has a doctorate in school psychology. Throughout her career, Dr. Connolly has taught middle school students, and served as a school psychologist, a BCBA for an autism program, a trainer, research analyst and a behavioral and educational consultant. She has worked with teachers, administrators, related service providers and individuals ages 2 to 22, but her real passion is with working with families. Dr. Connolly takes a collaborative approach when providing in-home services in order to create a positive learning environment for the whole family. She uses effective evidence-based interventions to support the individual in growing and reaching his or her true potential. When she is not providing ABA services, Dr. Connolly likes to go hiking with her family, including her dog, Stanley.
Andres is a Venezuelan native. He arrived to the United States a little over 8 years ago, where he finished High School and began his studies in Biology. He moved from Florida to Virginia two years ago, where he started to gain experience in the medical office setting. During his free time, he enjoys playing soccer, following his favorite sport teams Real Madrid and Miami Heat, taking his dog Nossa on hikes and playing with his newborn son Leo. Andres aspires to pursue his further education and a career in Physical Therapy in the near future.
Kristen completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Shenandoah University in 2010. She has worked in a variety of settings including neurological day rehab, inpatient rehabilitation, aquatic therapy and outpatient orthopedics. She brings with her experience utilizing the Bioness L300 foot drop stimulator and completing wheelchair and equipment evaluations. She has taken courses on senior strengthening and conditioning, wheelchair seating and mobility, therapeutic exercise, prosthetics, pediatrics, stroke and Parkinson’s disease. She has been certified in LSVT BIG which is an evidence based treatment protocol for Parkinson’s disease. A lifelong resident of Virginia, Kristen enjoys gardening and kayaking. She hopes to bring a fun and energetic style to the physical therapy department. She has a passion for providing evidence based interventions and functional treatments. She is looking forward to assisting people meet personal goals, reduce pain, improve mobility, and enjoy life.
Courtney graduated from Howard University with a masters in communication sciences and disorders. She is currently an active, certified member of the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA). Courtney is professional and extremely knowledgeable in the area of speech and language pathology. She has worked with infants, toddlers, school aged children, and adults in a variety of settings. She is passionate about providing excellent customer service to patients of all ages and, she strives to be attentive to the needs of each individual patient. Courtney enjoys serving pediatric and adult populations with varying diagnoses including autism spectrum disorder, Down’s Syndrome, premature birth, intellectual disability, deaf/hard of hearing, visually impaired, emotionally disturbed, hyperactivity disorders, and neurological disorders. Courtney is a Georgia native that transplanted to the Virginia area in 2018. She loves exploring the outdoors, attending live music events, and traveling in her spare time.
Kelly comes to Body Kinetics Rehab after 12 years working in county social services and schools. She began her career in Miami, FL after completing her B.A. at Florida International University. Upon moving to Virginia in 2005, Kelly joined the Hokie Nation and completed her M.S. in Human Developmet at Virginia Tech. She has dedicated her career to serving families, children, and adults in her community. Kelly uses her expertise to serve BKR patients and ensure they are met with a strengths based, holistic approach, accessing insurance, community, and family resources to promote positive healthcare outcomes.
Khadija graduated with BPT from Gulf Medical University, UAE. She has worked in outpatient/inpatient orthopedic, neurology, pediatric & womens health extensively. She is truly passionate about pediatrics and she loves working with kids and she feels that she can connect with kids effortlessly. Khadija believes in doing the exercises correctly as a slight variation in the starting position of an exercise could result in the recruitment of the muscles that are not being targeted. She likes to spend time in listening to the patients carefully and attentively to address their needs and to guide them patiently through the correct way of doing their exercises.
Khadija loves traveling, exploring different cultures, learning different languages and going to amusement parks.
Dr. Kavita has been an Occupational Therapist since 1981 and a Physical Therapist since 2003. She brings years of experience of working with Pediatrics, Adults, and Geriatrics patients. She has worked with clients of all diagnoses: Stroke, Cerebral Palsy, Parkinsonism, Muscular Dystrophies, Low Muscle Tone, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Hand Injuries, Pre and Post Surgical Clients. She is a firm believer in the use of holistic approach when working with clients of all ages and diagnoses. Her Certifications include - Vestibular Rehab, Sensory Integration and Praxis Test Administration and Interpretation, Sensory Processing Disorders, Yoga Instructor for children and adults , Therapeutic Listening, Provider for Astronaut Training, Provider for Interactive Metronome, Management of Feeding Disorders in Children .
Vibhakar has a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Utica College NY. He has extensive experience of over 25 years in the management of people with orthopedic and neurological conditions of all ages. He is trained in the use of McKenzie treatment method for Lumbar and Cervical impairments. He also has expertise in the management of Vestibular disorders and in the Lee Silverman BIG Therapy for Parkinson’s Disease. Vibhakar is very comfortable in evaluation and management of complex cases with multiple diagnoses, performing assessments for adaptive equipment and in prosthetic and orthotic training across pediatric, adult and geriatric populations. Vibhakar excels in providing the highest level of care through personalized attention in a professional manner. His strength is in building lasting relationships with his patients with attentive listening and educating them in their physical well being to improve their quality of life.
